Lake Darling Walleyes and Crappies
Lake Darling Walleyes and crappies are biting during the mid-season bite while ice fishing in Alexandria. We have our fish house rentals on the lakes and the bite has been ok during the month of February.
Our fish house rentals have been booked for the past few weekends and people are having success. We have been told of multiple walleyes and crappies being caught over the coarse of the past few weeks.
We have two of our houses currently on Lake Darling. Both of these houses have been producing fish.
Walleyes are being caught in 20-24 feet of water on bare hooks and jigs tipped with fat head minnows or shiners. Low light periods are the best times. Sunrise and sunset time periods are producing the most consistent bite.
Crappies are being hooked and caught in 22-25 feet of water using smaller lure presentations and crappie minnows.
Light Travel With Vehicles
The lakes have about 6-8 inches of snow on them, with more falling right now. Most all of the lakes are being traveled by vehicles.
Ice roads exist in most cases, so it’s easy to drive right to our houses.
We expect this to continue, but it will require some road maintenance in the coming weeks.
Ice fishing in Alexandria is in full swing. After a slow start, the ice is very thick and walleyes and crappies are being caught by our recent clients.
